First, using light heat, carefully detach the display from the frame. Nachedm the display has loosened it can also be folded the left side. Caution: There are still two flex cables connected (display and digitizer). After the cables are disconnected, the display can be put aside.
The interior is protected with an aluminum plate. To remove this we need to loosen all 11 screws. After that, the plate can be easily lifted off. Be careful not to damage any parts underneath when lifting it out.
Now we can see the inner workings of the Google Pixel 2 XL smartphone. All the components are now placed on the back cover.
.In order for us to remove the mainboard we must first disconnect all 7 cable connections and one antenna connection. It is important not to break any connectors. Mainboard repairs are very expensive and should be avoided if possible. Do not forget to remove the SIM card holder. This otherwise holds the mainboard to the backcover.
After all connections have been released, the mainboard can be carefully separated out. Now only the front camera and the battery need to be removed. The remaining components such as Vibra, side buttons, speakers, dock USB connector, etc. are part of a new back cover that we install here. Of course, these components can also be removed if necessary.
This is what our new back cover looks like. The components described above have all been installed in advance. Now we'll install all the removed components back in reverse order.
Opening the device is done at your own risk. I assume no liability for any damage caused.
Nevertheless, I think that this little overview can be useful for one or the other.
